About
Nitzan Levinson was born in Mexico to Argentinean-Israeli parents. She grew up between Mexico, Argentina, Israel, Los Angeles, where she moved at the age of thirteen.
A cinephile from a young age, Nitzan wrote and directed her first short film, Voiceless Voices, at 18. She secured funding for the project after pitching the idea to a well-known cinematographer she worked with as a PA on a large-scale commercial. The short went on to win awards at festivals, and secured her a spot at the American Film Institute, years later.
Drawn to Latin American cinema more than Hollywood productions, Nitzan pursued her first degree in film directing at Universidad del Cine (FUC) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. There, she directed commercials, short docs, experimental shorts and music videos. She also worked as assistant director and storyboard artist in two indie feature films.
At 23, she moved back to LA to attend the American Film Institute, seeking a balance between art and industry. Her thesis film, Children of Change, won the Environmental Media Association Award for being carbon neutral and was selected for the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, among many others.
Some of Nitzan’s accolades include the Cheech Marin Scholarship, the Bridges-Larson Scholarship, the Sundance Ignite Program, the David M. Milch Foundation Scholarship, and the AFI Scholarship.
After graduating, Nitzan co-founded LunAzul Films with two friends under the mentorship of MultiHouse. LunAzul produced commercials, fashion films, and music videos.
Nitzan is currently represented by legendary Hollywood producers Bobby Rock and Tani Cohen under their new management company, 713 Management, who are also executive producing her debut feature film, Alleys, which explores homelessness and influencer culture in Los Angeles and is in current pre-production.
